Stripe handles all billing for RebelSites. If a payment fails, here's exactly what happens and what you need to do.
Expired card
Insufficient funds
Bank declined the charge (fraud protection, international block, etc.)
Card number changed after a reissue
Stripe retries the charge automatically. It tries again after 3 days, then 5 days, then 7 days. You'll get an email from Stripe each time a retry happens.
Your site stays live during the retry window. A failed payment does not immediately take down your published site.
After all retries are exhausted (about 2 weeks), your subscription is canceled. At that point:
Your published site is taken offline.
Your site files and settings are preserved in your account for 30 days.
You can resubscribe at any time and your site will be republished.
Go to Settings then Billing in your RebelSites account.
Click Update Payment Method.
Enter your new card details.
Stripe will retry the outstanding charge immediately.
Once the payment goes through, everything returns to normal automatically. No need to rebuild or republish.
Not right away. You have the retry window (up to about 2 weeks) to update your payment before anything goes offline. And even after cancellation, your files are kept for 30 days so you can reactivate.
